This birding safari is in Entebbe Botanical gardens, Uganda Wildlife Education Center, Lutembe bay, Mabamba bay and Mabira forest. Itinerary

Day 1 Birding in Entebbe

The tour starts with Entebbe Botanical Gardens. Here you will have good hours of birding on the best trails around Kampala, with over 150 species of birds. Look out for the Bare faced-go away bird, Great Blue and Ross’s Turacos, Red Chested, Klaas’s and Diederik Cuckoo, Great Reed Warbler, Fain Tailed Widow bird, Striped, Malachite, Giant, Woodland, and Pygmy Kingfishers, Black Bishop, Grey Woodpecker, Olive, Olive bellied, Red-chested, superb, Copper, etc Sunbirds and many more.

In the afternoon we proceed to UWEC. This is a home to captive animals and over 170 species of birds. These include 7 species of weavers, such as the rare Northern Masked Weaver and Orange Weaver, Kingfishers, Sunbirds, etc.

Day 2 Birding in Mabamba Wetland

After breakfast, your birding experience to the Mabamba Swamps will start. Birding here is done canoeing on a big scale. A variety of species to be seen may include; The rare Shoebill, White-faced Whistling-duck, Fulvous Whistling-Duck, Goliath Heron, Purple Heron, Common Squacco Heron, Long-toed Plover, African water Rail, Grey and Black Headed Herons, Striated Heron, Pygmy Goose, Yellow Billed Duck, Black Crake, Swamp Moorhen, Allen’s Gallinule, African Jacana, and many more. You could also see the Sitatunga, a swamp antelope.

Day 3 Birding in Lutembe Bay

Among the birds one must hope to see include; The Purple Starling, House Sparrow, Brown Twinspot, Fawn-breasted Waxbill, Black-necked Weaver, Holub’s Golden Weaver, Speckle-breasted, Grey and Nubian Woodpeckers, Africa-Pygmy Kingfisher, Scaly Francolin, Black Kite, Grey-backed Fiscal, Black-headed Gonolek, Black-crowned Waxbill, Barn Swallow, Helmeted Guineafowl, Wire-tailed Swallow, Brimstone and the Yellow-fronted Canaries, Little Ringed Plover, Collared Pratincole, Splendid Sterling, Blue-spotted Wood-dove, Pin-tailed Whydah, Yellow-browed Camaroptera, Common Waxbill, Marico Sunbird, Tree Pipit, Grosbeak Weaver, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, Cape Wagtail, Africa Wattled Lapwing, Senegal Lapwing, Yellow-throated Longclaw, White-headed Saw-wing, Broad-billed Roller, White-browed and the Brown-backed Scrub-robins, Whiskered Tern, Lead-coloured Flycatcher, African Green Pigeon, Sooty Chat, Plain-backed Pipit, Tropical Boubou, just to mention but a few

Day 4Birding in Mabira Forest

After breakfast, we head out to Mabira Forest Reserve with packed lunch for a whole day of birding. Look ou for the African Dusky Flycatcher, Buff-spotted Woodpecker, Yellow-crested Woodpecker, Black-shouldered Nightjar, Wood Warbler, Yellow-whiskered Greenbul, Red-tailed Bristlebill, White-spotted Flufftail, Red-headed Malimbe, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Grey-throated Barbet, Little Greenbul, Blue-breasted Kingfisher, African Pygmy Kingfisher, Shining-blue Kingfisher, Red-caped Robin-chat, Forest Robin, Fire-crested Alethe, Brown-chested Alethe, White-throated Greenbul name it. Proceed to Kampala or Entebbe. End of Tour.
